  1. I’m torn between both of these images, but there’s something about the red that captures my imagination – really love how you’ve positioned this shot with that snow-laden tree on the side.

very well done, especially the picture in two colors, but I like both of them.

  3. Aren’t the barren trees just perfectly photogenic with that layering of white snow? I like your selective color and the black and white. Hope you aren’t asking us to choose!

  4. I like them both! The selective coloring works well on the house. Good job!

  5. The selective color makes the barren trees very crisp. Very nice contrast in this image.

Your selective color version is definitely a “framer”….just picture perfect!

  8. I think I prefer the one WITH the red house. It is a wonderful touch indeed and almost helps one distinguish the wonderful shapes of the leafless trees especially the one on the right. Regardless, a great perspective!

I’m enjoying both but like the red barn best and that tree really adds to the shot.
I do have to ask…did you choose the patterned background? And if so, how? I thought only a solid color could go there?
Would love to know how you did it…

  10. Nice in B&W but the selective coloring really makes the image. The tree on the right is so interesting.

This is the kind of photo that selective color was invented for.

  14. I like both of them as well, but the one with the red is a really nice pop.

Just wondering if red is the actual color of the building, or if you selected that color. It really pops!

    • Hi Nan,

Yes, it’s the actual color. I just bumped up the saturation a little bit.

  17. Beautiful use of selective color – very tricky with all going on around it.
