We went to a private reception Sunday night at Discovery Times Square in Manhattan for Pompeii, the Exhibit. There was catering by Lidia Bastianich, wine from I don’t remember, lol (it was good though) an operatic performance by sopranoCristina Fontanelli and a talk by archaeologist Kristin Romey. (My dream was to be an archaeologist so I was in heaven!) It was FABULOUS! They did not allow photographs, however, there was one part of the exhibit in a separate, little room which turned out to be a replica of a room from one of the many brothels in Pompeii. The bed & other things were from the site, the linens obviously were not but the style was of the time period. Somehow, my camera went off….shhh…don’t know how on earth that happened except for the fact that I had my blog visor on at the time. HERE’S a short video showing what might have happened when Mt. Vesuvius erupted in 79 A.D.. HERE and HERE are links (Rated R) to Pompeii’s Erotic Past. In those times, prostitution was not illegal. Sex workers were male and female and the beds in the brothels were made of stone!
If you’d like a comprehensive guide to all things Pompeii, go to AD79 – Destruction and Re-discoveryand check HERE to see photos recently taken at Pompeii. Oh, and HERE’S a link to a more recent eruption of Mt. Vesuvius, in 1944. Heck, check all the links, they’re amazing!
So this was the only shot I was able to get all night and wondered if it was going to be possible to use in The Challenge. Checking the theme list I found ‘Bedtime’, so, without further ado…..
